Is checking someone online before meeting becoming normal now?

Lately I’ve noticed that people are becoming more cautious before meeting anyone from dating apps or social platforms. Some even use tools like Teachecker to see if a person has any online presence or mentions before trusting them. I get the idea behind it because online interactions can be unpredictable, but I still wonder if relying on these checks actually helps or just creates more doubt before even meeting someone.
